Poufs are one of the most trending decorator elements for a home this year. You have probably seen poufs featured in social media photos to stage props in a home on television.
Poufs are constructed of an inner shell shape made of a heavy-duty fabric or vinyl material that’s formed in a roundish or softened square shape with no frame, just compacted stuffing which gives it organic looking shape. It’s then covered in a chunky knit, or jacquard patchwork fabric with embellishments of beads or tassels attached at the corners if the pouf is squarish in shape.
Here are some of the ways to decorate and use poufs as a design element, as well as being a fun functional furniture piece.
Pop of Color in a Room
A brightly patterned pouf can give a room a pop of color that will liven up the space. If you live in a rental home that doesn't permit any decorative wallpaper or paint on the walls, then use a pouf to add that color pop.
Sculptural Element
With their organic shape and characteristic bold texture covering, they really can stand alone as a stunning sculptural piece. Place in an empty corner or open spot to fill in voids in a room, and of course use them as furniture when you need to, they are dual purpose as an added bonus.
Extra Seating and Table
When you require additional seating in a room during a family get-together, poufs are the perfect alternative, particularly for kids. Poufs are great in bedrooms as a spot to stack books, or put in a children’s play area.
You can use a pouf as an extra side table in the living room, place magazines or remotes on a pouf next to a chair or sofa.
Lastly, Kick Up Your Feet
A pouf was originally designed as a footrest, but its uses have expanded in so many ways that it really has become an essential piece of furniture for busy active families.
