2019 Color Happiness
The color mavens of the Pantone Color Institute have met for their annual color conclave and sent up a puff of smoke, delicious coral orange smoke, to be specific. They have announced that the new "it color," the 2019 color of the year is "Living Coral." It is a happy blend of pink and orange and a much-needed natural antidote to our technology-driven life.
Adaptable Color
Don't be afraid of this unusual hue; Living Coral is indeed a usable and playful color. You'll find the palette exploration on the Pantone website helpful with 5 very different color visions using Living Coral. When paired with pinks and oranges, a subdued Southwest "Shimmering Sunset" is created. Try matching it with blush pink skin tones for the calming "Sympatico" look. Pair it with traditional grays and greens for fun "Focal Point" effect. Or combine it with bright blues and greens for the tropical island feel of "Trippy" and "Under the Sea."
Natural Accents
By consulting the different palettes, you can pick the perfect way to use Living Coral in your own home. Experiment by using it as an accent to brighten and modernize your home decor.
It is the perfect splash of color (sea pun intended) to use in a couch pillow, a throw, or other low-cost decorator items like a vase, place-mats, or a lamp. Another simple way to add in the color is purchasing artwork with Living Coral or creating your own by framing a piece of fabric or making a patchwork pillow. If you like to bake, a new mixer is available in this very color. For a larger impact, try painting one wall or finding a fabulous Coral chair.
Nothing will instantly refresh and update your home like bringing in a bit of joyful Living Coral.
